One of the leading suppliers of visualization systems for city and state departments of transportation (DOTs) in the USA, Activu, has unveiled ActivShare, a new desktop collaboration product for traffic management center (TMC) control rooms.
Mission-critical operations require a collaboration system that allows users to quickly and intuitively distribute critical information to decision makers, both in the traffic control room and at other locations, when an incident occurs, so that issues can be resolved quickly and efficiently. Part of Activu’s ActivWare visualization and collaboration software suite, ActivShare provides a way for decision makers in the traffic control room, and other locations, to quickly and intuitively collaborate and share information with one or more network connected users with three clicks of a mouse.
ActivShare allows any user to share any application window on their desktop with one or more users or onto one or more network-connected displays, including video walls, conference room displays and remote desktops. ActivShare is fast and efficient and does not require launching a separate application. It can be purchased as a separate standalone collaboration system or as part of Activu’s control room video wall visualization platforms.
ActivShare tracks every application window on the desktop, providing access to the system through a menu button conveniently placed on the title bar of the active application. The software places a simple menu-button on the current active window title bar to provide access to ActivShare’s advanced functionality. Users simply click the ActivShare ‘a’ at the top of the active application, select who (or where) to share the information with, and click ‘connect’ for instant collaboration. Recipients can, in turn (and with permission), share the applications with others.
Multi-user white boarding, chat, and KVM ensure that all users can fully interact with the information and collaborate in real time. When a decision is made, the results can be captured in a file for offline review. Any content can be shared, including full motion content and streaming video, with real time updates for all participants. All Activu network distributed components use strong encryption and authentication technologies for security to ensure that all information is safeguarded from unauthorized access.
“ActivShare is a versatile tool for the control room environment and beyond,” said John Stark, vice president of product management at Activu. “It enhances the ability of critical decision makers to access, manage and share visual information in real time, maintain situational awareness, and make informed decisions.”
